On February 23rd, The Someday Lounge was buzzing with excitement about the release of Scrimshander’s self titled EP. Local favorites Fanno Creek opened the evening with their lively and infectious folk-infused songs. Next was Desert Days (formerly dubbed Pigeons) whose fusion of
progressive rock, pop, and country never fails to amaze. Finally, Scrimshander began their set with the first reveal of their video for the track “Forest Fire,” a crafty stop-motion animation made by local art collective Belly & Bones. Members Andy Furgeson and Peter Volais shared duties including vocals, guitar, keys, a non-conventional drumset divided between them, concluding the evening with collaborations from two family members who joined the duo onstage. It was a very delightful, energetic night that also saw the release of Scrimshander’s debut album, currently available in a limited white vinyl pressing. Words by Raz Veja & Photos by Todd Walberg.
