Lee Aulson, band booker and Beveler, created a bill of four bands from four different collectives, or show houses. Sama Dams, Tiananmen Bear, Walter Mitty & His Makeshift Orchestra and Amenta Abioto rocked out at Backspace this Friday. The bill had “no hierarchy but all around variety from the first act to the last,” said Aulson. Breaking the boundaries of a traditional bill, it was a brilliant idea with a brilliant outcome.
The room fell silent for the rhythmic, bone-chilling sounds of first act Amenta Abioto, who is now definitely on Rip City Review’s musical radar. What really stole the show for us was Tiananmen Bear. Spastic, clever and catchy- check out their tunes.
PS: Their bassist couldn’t make it- hence the picture of the weird clown thing on stage. Rip City Review thought it was kind of funny and awesome.
